The Story: Dr. Dawne Washington is an International Psychologist, published author, counselor in training, and founder of Brown Girl’s Vision LLC based in Trenton, New Jersey.
She earned her doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and carries on the legacy of her late father, Dr. Jack Washington — a historian whose work on Black contributions in New Jersey was valued by scholars including Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Eddie Glaude.
The Journey:
Dr. Washington has conducted NGO work and program evaluations across South Africa, Peru, Jamaica, and India. Her work is rooted in cross cultural psychology and speaks directly to the experiences of marginalized communities globally.
A former Educational Opportunity Fund student at Mercer County Community College and Rutgers University Newark, Dr. Washington was a teen mom who experienced homelessness while pursuing her education. She did not stop.

She is the founder of Brown Girl’s Vision LLC — a consulting and publishing practice dedicated to cultural education, training, and community empowerment.
